About
Graham Batty is a casual theatre-goer and yearly Fringe-lover. He reviews plays he sees, especially during Fringe time, because he enjoys sharing his views on what he enjoys and what he thinks his friends should see. He has no background in theatre, no solid connections to the theatre community, and (to date) only pretensions of being a writer. He thinks these things give value to his reviews since the vast majority of theatre-goers are like him. Not experts, not connected, and just interested in seeing new stories acted out live.
The core feature of his love of live theatre is his love of fresh stories. Anyone can go see the latest blockbuster film, and while those films fill in the greater cultural mosaic we all live in, it’s the little stories that only a handful of people ever see that really give us the diversity we crave. Fringe theatre is a gateway to that world of smaller stories, and Graham delights in finding and enjoying stepping through that gateway and finding new things to think and talk about.
